need Boot Camp Beta
#1
Hi,

I have an 24" Al iMac using 10.4.11 that just had its hard disk replaced under warranty. My back up was unfortunately incomplete. I want to re-install Boot Camp/WinXP (I think my windows back up IS complete) but I cannot find a copy of Boot Camp Beta (I used version 1.4). Apple, of course wants me to upgrade to 10.5 in order to get the non-beta version.
Is there any source of the old beta (i.e. free) out there in the ether?

TIA

Dad

you could pick up parallels or fusion for $40 or so -- which would also negate the need to restart to get to the windows side

unless you are gaming... then you need bootcamp...

I use the Windows install for looking at radiological studies from home (rather than driving into the hospital at 3am).

I don't know how much this stresses the graphics system of the computer.....as it is now loading and filtering the images is slow slow slow.

Thanks

Free: http://www.virtualbox.org - works great!

(in case you are unaware, it is similar and a free competitor to Parallels and VMware Fusion)

This should not have worked.

I had Boot Camp 1.1 which will not install after some arbitrary day in mid 2007. So I disconnected the iMac from the internet and set the date for Feb 2007.

Boot camp 1.1 installed!
Patition of HD worked!
Installation of XP worked!
Drivers (for BC 1.1) did not work (no video drivers, no internet) on the Al iMac but I found the driver disk from my Boot Camp 1.4 install and that worked!
Reconnected internet, reset the date and it all worked!

There is happiness!

Thanks for the above help guys,

dad
