Canon G9 Problem
#1
Hoping that someone knows what the culprit may be.

Yesterday, I was visiting the Trinity Site with my less than two month old Canon G9. I was trying to zoom in slightly for a picture when the camera just kept zooming in to maximum focal length and then onward to maximum digital zoom.

From that point on, the camera refused to acknowledge any buttons pressed, including the shutter release button. I can change the program settings via the C1, C2, M, Av, Tv, P knob on top of the camera but otherwise, nothing works. The camera is completely frozen in a full zoom state.

I've tried changing batteries, changing SD cards and pulling the battery out completely but turn the thing on and it starts up and then locks in the full zoom position (meaning that the camera will shut down and close completely, but restart and go to full zoom).

Any thoughts on how to rectify this in the field? Maybe a way to manually reset the camera? I don't know if I had inadvertently hit some buttons that may have caused this or if it might be a result of radiation exposure at Trinity.

Thanks!

Bum logic board. Use your backup camera.
