Caved...bought MS Office 2008 for Mac.

It took 2 hrs to load on my system this morning including Expression Media. Worked with it all day and Word crashed on me twice while doing successive Find and Replaces. I really hate the fact that the "top" of the document seems to have so much gray space above the toolbars.

But! It does seem to avoid that problem when doing a Find and Replace it "hangs" that I've posted about. Of course, it's early days yet. The crashing is a bit worrisome but I know how to avoid that...or so I think.

Well, *I* got it for free when I purchased Office 2004 - for $25!

Hah!

That's the deal I got. But I think I had to pay $7 for shipping.

I have found the extra rows in Excel 2008 to be VERY helpful. You cannot VLOOKUP between 2008 and 2004 files. You can cut and paste. I haven't checked whether other functions work.

If I don't need the extra rows, I work in 2004. I prefer the tool bar being constant and not tied to the worksheet.

Early days? I've had a retail boxed copy of Office 2008 for about a year now. That's not early in a release by a long shot.

Actually, I had it since earlier this year as part of a free upgrade if you purchased 2004. Early days in terms of it was my first day using it.
