Ok, just saw it, college kid selling Powerbook for quick cash (seems legit, parents bought for him for school) but here are the real specs.
It's a 15" 1.5ghz (Jan 2005) with combo, 512mbx2=1gb Ram, 80gb, Airport extreme. I think it's the "dual link" Radeon 9700. It is listed as under warranty for a couple of more weeks.
OK not worth $1350. so what's it worth? I'm thinking maybe $1000 or so? It's in real nice shape, sweet machine even if it's not a 17".
What would it cost to get a 4 or 8x superdrive into it?

Dual-Link would have been a CTO option on that machine, seems unlikely.
I just sold my original 15" 1.25, superdrive, 512MB RAM, 80GB, Airport with 6 months AppleCare remaining for just over $1100.
A superdrive could be as cheap as $100-120 if you just buy a bare drive, to $180 if you buy one from a Mac-specific vendor that is guaranteed to work.

Look on PBCentral.com classifieds for a rough idea, as well as eBay closed auctions for machines with that spec. Considering that refurb 15s are going for what, 1599, 1000 seems about right. Although since there's no SD, I might knock off $100. Don't forget, you're not getting a warranty with this machine...buyer beware. Unless you're gonna buy AppleCare real quick.

IMO it's worth $900 to $950 depending on how cosmetically perfect it is. Does the kid have the OEM installation disks, the books and records, a receipt/sales slip etc? I'd run the Apple Hardware Test on it, just for knickers, to make sure what's there works aok...you'll need the OEM System Installer Disk No. 1 to do that.
It'll take about an hour to run with 1GB of RAM.
The lack of a SuperDrive is what kills the value. It's going to cost $200 or so to get a quality S'Drive in there, plus you'll have to install it yourself. Tell the kid you'd like to buy his PBook but it has to pass the AHTest, and you'd like to see a receipt for its purchase also, just to be safe.
I'd hate to get my hands on a "hot" PBook and not know I'd done it...

If you called Apple, couldn't they tell you who the computer was registered to? That said, I wouldn't buy it for that much money. Too much for a computer whose time may have passed and for one without a superdrive and warranty.

You could easily use an external burner for those times you really need to burn a DVD

Apple won't tell you any info on the registered owner. best you can do is key in the ser# and find out its warranty status.
