Running 2 DVI monitors on a ACD/DVI card. What adapter do I need?
#1
I have a G5 with a 9600 AGP card that has both ADC and DVI ports. Currently, I run a 23" and 22" ACD's on it.

I'm going to swap out these two ACD's with 2 Dell 2405's and move the ACD's to two other PowerMacs.

What do I need to connect the 2nd DVi monitor to the ACD port? I have the $99 adapter to make a ADC monitor work on a DVi port already but I guess I need the opposite of this.

OWC can help you out, or eBay. Spend about $20

(BTW, don't ADC equipped Macs ship with this dongle?)

Yeah, I was wondering about that.

Off to the cable drawer.

I'm pretty sure my ADC-equipped G5 tower came with an ADC->SVGA adapter, not an ADC->DVI

This item:

CompUSA stocks the same one (Belkin) but wants $59.95 for it, my local store did a price match to Apple's price one time but would not the next time so I ordered it direct from Belkin (when they had a 1/2 price sale).

All ADC/DVI (non-VGA) equipped macs shipped with DVI-VGA adapters. Either in cable or dongle form.

My MDD is running a Radeon 9600 with an ADC-VGA and a DVI-VGA cable adapter to two Lacie 19" Electron Blue III's. Works great.

threeprong,

I have an extra ADC to DVI adapter that you could have for $15 including shipping - I needed one several months ago and ended up buying a lot of 4 so I have a couple extra. Send me a PM if you would like one.

Hopefully this post is not out of place - just trying to help out.
