Anyone buy from tekserve?
#1
My daughter works around the corner from tekserve in manhatten and her friends say it is a good place for "open Box" deals. Anyone know about this place?

i have heard they're expensive, but they're the premier Apple repair center in Manhattan (outside of Apple stores) and they are reputable.

i don't know about 'open box' deals, however.

Manhatten and good Apple prices usually don't go together, but who knows.

I went there yesterday with my sad laptop story. on the way out i asked about their best macbook pro deals. i found it cheaper to order from macconnection.

they're not bad, but you might be able to do better elsewhere.

I bought my Mac Pro from them (I live in NYC). They are huge and
have been around for a long time selling and repairing Macs, and
have some folks there who can still work with pre-MacOS X Macs.
They also have a greater breadth of products to sell than Apple Stores
do, with the exception of iPhones. It has a very bohemian feel to it
(it's the antithesis of Apple Stores) and is decorated with vintage
electronic devices and 20+ year old Macs. They also have an old
Coke machine that sells small bottles of Coke for 10¢. My only caveat
is that they charge an arm and a leg for memory, though not as
extremely high as Apple.

good place. reputable. expensive.
They are the place to go if you need something Apple related that day, not the place to get a deal.

They've been my go-to guys for years. The thing is, when they fix it, it's fixed.

For repairs only and to get hands-on with items. They are expensive for purchases and good for people who don't know/can't research on-line pricing.
