Yes, I agree -- I think he is a very intelligent guy, I just wholeheartedly disagree with most of his views. His wife is gorgeous. However, it's interesting how his Republican response speech has been taken: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Jinda...o_Congress
... also, his refusal to accept some of the stimulus package money borders on insane.

He came off a lot better on 60 minutes than his speech the other night. Of course, that isn't saying much.

I really know nothing about Jindal but I can't help but think that his positioning within the republican party is the ethnic response to Barack Obama. As though the republican party is saying that since the democrats have their "ethnic", they do too. That perhaps his being touted is part and parcel of the Bollywood-izing of America.

From what I read this weekend, Jindal's flop following the President's speech was really a by product of relying too much on his inept media handlers. If they let Piyush be Piyush (who graduated from Brown and Oxford, BTW) instead of reading from one of Limbaugh's leftover scripts, he would have done much better. I think the guy will remain on the political stage. He is definitely more of a heavyweight candidate than Sarah Palin, IMHO.
Remember, Bill Clinton bombed while giving a speech at the 1988 Dem convention and bounced back. I think the national GOP is desperate to shake off its image as a bunch of panicky white guys from the South and West, so it will continue to promote guys like Jindal and Steele. However, the GOP's attempt to spin the erudite and intelligent Jindal as some backwoods good 'ol boy on national TV really backfired.
