I'd like to see Apple offer an SSD RAID on the iMacs
#1
At least it would be fun to see the barefeats report.

Two 2.5" SSD in a RAID, should fit within the confines of the current iMac's 3.5" drive space.

Heck, they could have already been doing this with regular 2.5 HDDs, too.

Just "i-afy" [eye a fi] the built-in RAID ability to the OS X. Perhaps call it iRAID, or StopLoss or something. Perhaps team with DROBO algorithms and make a 2,3,4 bay/slots on the side of the iMacs to pop in/out new/old 2.5 drives (HDD or SSD or mixed). Drobo docks built-in to iMacs would be cool.

In spite of it's relatively small marketshare, Apple needs to make computers that appeal to the masses (who will pay a bit more for a better user experience) and that's an enthusiast feature, not a populist one.

Saving one's data on a RAID is not popular? It would be if they made it standard, imo. Standard and easy. Might even help justify the Apple tax.

I scoff at your puny SSD RAID benchmarks.

PCIe flash memory drive. 576 MB/sec.

Yep--Fusion-io is the company Woz is now associated with.
