Amazon Video Rental - 7 Day Rental period!
#1
my son is studying Romeo & Juliet so I thought i'd rent West Side Story - my all time favorite musical.

the rental period now says 7 days but upon further scrutiny, this is a major change. you have 7 days to view it once you start watching instead of 24 hours. you still have 30 days to start watching in the first place.

is iTunes video matching this policy change?

The iTunes store still gives you 24 hours in the U.S. (48 hours in backwaters like Canada and the U.K.).

However, if you can't finish watching it in the allowed time period, simply pause the movie and then you can resume watching it the next day, month, or year, i.e. there is no real time limit on iTS rentals when handled that way.

That 24-hour rental period became really prohibitive once we started having kids. I've never rented from unbox again. Netflix & Tivo became the way to go.

rental was $2.99. and i needed it now. not sure i'd want to own the movie version anyway. i much prefer the broadway cast recording to the movie version. the voices of Maria and Tony, and perhaps others, were dubbed for the movie.

my son and i watched part of WSS last night. he was quite taken with the singing of the male lead and remarked a number of times how gifted the singer is. we'll finish up the film tonight. when it's over i'll tell him about Hollywood and dubbing.
