[FOLLOWUP] Dell 24" Display #2408WFP - A shade darker on the edges of the screen
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to post a followup to the following thread:
I performed the self-test of the display which is as simple as disconnecting the display from the computer and turning it on. The display passed the test without a problem at all. So, it seems the Dell tech is likely corrent. The issue is not an issue but in actuality a trick of the light and the bezel that surrounds the panel. Unlike the panel of a 20" imac, the panel of the Dell display is recessed a bit. The bezel is about half the thickness of pencil. In looking at the same spots on the edge of the 20" imac here at my office, I'm noticing a very similar issue. It just isn't quite as apparent. I suspect the bezel of the Dell display make it seem worse than it actually is in reality.
That said, I love the display! The colors are awesome. The clarity fantastic. I played an HD trailer - GI Joe The Rise of Cobra - and it made my jaw drop. It was the first time I'd watch anything in HD on my Mac Pro and it was awesome! Absolutely awesome! Heck, I could leave my Mac Pro in my bedroom and use the display as an HDTV just as easily as a computer monitor. It's got all of the necessary connections for that purpose, i.e. HDMI, Component Video, etc.
The display even has a built-in media card reader that just so happens to support SD cards and CompactFlash cards out of the box. Very handy one of my cameras uses compactFlash and the other SD cards and that I use compact flash cards to transport data to and from my office machine. This feature came as a surprise to me as a built-in USB hub and media card reader were not on my "important things to look at in a new display" list.
Next stage is connecting the soundbar I ordered for the 2408WFP.
