my brother just called me from the MicroCenter in Duluth wondering if this was a good deal:
20" iMac
2.66 ghz
2 GB Ram
320GB HD
$999 after $200 rebate.
i told him hell yeah, hold on while i go check my lottery ticket from last night!
oh well. if anyone in the area is thinking about an iMac...

And you don't have to open a credit card to get the rebate?

Cool. I didn't know they put a Microcenter in Gwinnett County. I left in 1998 and frequented the one in Marietta a lot.

It doesn't have the sectioned-off Mac store inside like the Marietta store. Just a Mac area in the middle of the back. Sometimes I wonder how they keep it open. It did gangbusters until they opened a Fry's a couple of miles away.
MicroCenter has some good deals once in a while but the prices on their clearance/return items is a joke. They usually knock about 10% off of retail on stuff you can get much cheaper online. I remember some old Mac Localtalk card they had on their clearance table for a slight discount off of the original 5-year-old price. Something you could get on eBay for two bucks and they were asking almost $100.

Fry's's Apple section leaves everything to be desired at ours at least.
