$20 adapter turns SATA into IDE. Anyone used it?

Does anyone have any experience using this in a Mac?

I am not concerned about the added length or anything. Just if it works, and issues with it.

I have a converter that looks more like the one in the upper right corner of that page. I got it from cooldrives.com. IIRC, it worked ok, but the case I was trying to use it in was so tight that with the adapter on, the drive wouldn't fit in the case.

I've used several and all have worked well. Later one i got came from Computer Surplus and was a Sabrent if I remember correctly.

the one you linked to looks like its a lower profile than the one from cooldrives -- the molex power plugs in horizontally -- rather than straight out

so can you use one them super jumbo SATA drives [bigger than 750GB] in an older mac w/ one of those adapters, or will it see PATA and want to max out at 750GB? IOW, is the 750GB PATA limit on the manufacturing end or the computer's recognition end?

750 PATA is the biggest made

yes, you can use a 2TB SATA drive with this adapter and any PATA connection
