Can get 50 downloads free from eMusic. They do take a CC# or paypal account as you actually have to sign up for a $15/month account, but you can cancel at any time during the 14 day free trial. Anyone had any problems with them not allowing you to cancel? Any other problems?

Definitely worth it, IMO.
I do think they do take a card...it's been a long time since I did it, but essentially you can just sign up...download your free MP3s right then if you want and then cancel immediately - that's what I did.
I think I spent around 30 minutes total getting what I wanted and getting out. Nothing will stop you from going over your free 50 though...so if you start downloading anything beyond that (you can download multiples at a time and have them queued up) you will be charged for it...so just keep an eye on it once you start getting down to your last 5 or 10 downloads.

I love emusic. My only complaint is that I can't listen to that much new music each month. I am currently on a 3 month break (new feature), and may cancel for a while longer and take a year off again.

I think that it also depends on what kind of music you like. They don't have much pop or mainstream stuff, but their indie selection is pretty good. Their jazz and blues selection is really good. Other options are sporadic. They also offer audio books, so that is something else to consider.

Almost done with my 50 downloads... mostly Bluegrass and a Kinks album. Will cancel as soon as the 50 are done. Hopefully no problems with that part. Their download manager sucks... once you select a track to download, you can't delete it without deleting the entire queue. A huge pain when you realize you did 52 tracks and want to delete 2, but you have to delete them all and reload the ones you want.

I love how people complain about something that's not only free, but they also have no intention on paying to use once their free downloads are done. Do you go to Sam's/BJ's/Costco and eat the free samples, then complain that they weren't giving you enough?
I'm glad you loved my comment. It was a comment on the program that they use to get music onto the computer. If I borrowed a Kindle and was given access to a free book, but didn't like the interface, may I not comment. I didn't rant or rave. I just commented that their manager suck- which it does. If the service was better, maybe I would use it, but I certainly won't considering the interface. No flame war needed, thanks. What would this forum be without people
commenting on software/hardware/etc... just a forum on Dell Mini 9s?

I had to read your comment several times to understand what you were complaining about. In all my years using emusic, it has never occurred to me to try to delete something from my Que after I selected it for download. I am carefull about picking my tracks. With a high speed connection, if I am going one by one, each track downloads so fast I can hardly see it in the Que, a few secs at most. With itunes, you can "unbuy" a song after you buy it and it starts downloading, can you? (Again, it has never occurred to me to try to do that, but I am pretty sure you can't).
But, I agree the download manager is primitive, but as software: it doesn't really do anything other than list the downloads as they download. I think there is a way to set it up so that it downloads the tracks right into your itunes library, but I have never bothered to set that up either (I do have to find them and manually add them to my library using itunes).
