The article has more to do with the car-centered suburban development pattern of the past 60 years:
fast-growing newer cities like Atlanta, Dallas and Phoenix are surrounded by sprawling suburbs that can only be navigated behind the wheel, not least because fiercely hot summers limit the attraction of walking. wrote:
