Need help figuring out router problem...
#1
Here is the setup at my moms place.

Comcast HSI > Comcast Box for telephone > To linksys wireless g router.

Everthing works fine but I need to switch out the router and move to my brothers house.

I have an older linksys wireless b router that should work perfectly in the spot but whenever, I hook it in, all the lights go but it will not connect to the internet.

Then I switch the G router back in and it all goes back to noramal function.

Help...

You need to access the routers GUI in a web browser. 192.168.1.1 Default login is admin and password is admin. Reset the router(reset button) and you might need to change a few settings and password protect the wifi connection.

Yes, power cycle the Cable Modem when you change the routers. Comcast assigns IP addresses based on the MAC address of the device connected (in this case the WIFI router), the new router has a different MAC address so you need to power cycle the Cable Modem so that it gets assigned a new IP address.

The alternate solution is to clone the MAC address of the other router.
