PowerPoint template question - switching masters
#1
I am using PowerPoint 2007 (on an evil PC, but it should be similar to the Mac version), and I have a presentation that uses a certain master template. I want to keep the same information, but apply another template.

I've done this in other versions, and it's oh-so-easy in iWork/Keynote. I'm pulling my hair out over not being able to figure this out in PPT 2007! It's not even addressed in MicroCrap's silly help system.

Down with the evil empire! But while I'm on my little rant, I still need to figure this out!

In PowerPoint 2003, if you select "Slide Design" from the "Format" menu, way at the bottom of the right pane that opens is a "Browse..." button that allows you to find other presentations.

Not sure why they did this...but MS eliminated the menus and went to a "tabbed" system.

A coworker showed me how to do it once, and like you're suggesting, it was buried in the bottom of a menu. It wasn't intuitive at all.

I wish they had a "PowerPoint Classic" option to go back to the old-style menus!

I thought this was the driving guidance behind Microsoft Design Philosophy...

The whole "Themes" concept now in PPT 2007 just seems to work wacky for me. Maybe it's because of the way I usually work. I think you really have to get a handle on it now. I don't work enough in PPT to really have it down.

Try this:

Go to View and in Presentation Views pick Slide Master, then select the Master that you want to have your new Master under. Then select Slide Master in the top right of the Ribbon and select Insert Slide Master. That will put a second blank Master under your original.
