How do I recover a lost to-do in iCal?
#1
OK, this seems impossible. I have a couple of to-do's that appear to have been hosed by the snow Leopard update. I can see them in spotlight, but can't open them.

When this happened, I tried to go into iCal and engage Time Machine, but, apparently, you can't recover iCal items from within TM. It just takes you to the finder. Brilliant.

So, how the hell do I find the to-do i'm missing? Yes, I should have made a separate ical database backup before upgrading, but i thought I was covered w/ TM. I guess not?

ideas?

If you had it sync'd with MobileMe, for example, you'd have a copy. Odd that your update would have any effect on something as ordinary as a calendar appointment. I hope you find a solution.

I'm entertaining the mobileme thing.....

i guess i could go into TM, go back a ways, recover all of the info in ~library/calendars, then import each calendar DB into iCal and see if the to-do's are in there?

ugh

Go back to when you know you had it in TimeMachine.

In the TM finder window just do a search in the search box at the upper right side, it should show up.

great idea, but it appears that to-do's don't show up in that search...

for those that may search for this.....

turns out it's a bug in iCal. The to-do is there, you just have to "show completed items" and then you can uncheck it.

wasn't like that before..
