What's the deal with DVD-RWs, and RWing them?
#1
I made a couple of data disks with Toast Titanium and some Sony DVD-RW blanks, no problems.

But now that I want to RW with different data, my mini keeps spitting them out.

What's the dealio?

Spitting them out immediately upon insertion or spitting them out when you attempt to erase the discs?

Is there an error message displayed? Does an error show up in the Console?

Did you originally burn the disc on the Mini? If not, did you check to see that the drive is listed in the System Profiler or Toast's info window as compatible with that kind of media?

What software are you using to erase them? Toast? What version of Toast?

Have you tried anything to get it working like restarting your computer or erasing a disc with the Disk Utility?

I didn't know that they had to be erased before reusing them, and that it was a separate process.

I thought that was just part of the re-write process.

These were recorded by me on my mini using Toast Ti. I suppose I can use either Toast or Disk Utility to erase the disk. The disks are spit out a few seconds after hitting the record button. I then get a notice to insert a writeable disk or something to that effect.

The Erase command is in the Recorder menu in Toast.

The regular/long erase can take up to a half hour. The quick erase takes less time, but if you use it then the disc may not be writable from another computer or with different burning software.
