I once had a storage facility and in "bold print" the contract stated we were not responsible for anything.

I had people try to sue and it was tossed. A storage facility does not know what is in a unit so could not in anyway be responsible.

We rented storage last summer and I can tell you it is not easy to get in and out without some kind of a record. First, you have to punch in your pin to get in. Same for getting out. If you haven't punched in when coming in you can't get out. There are cameras everywhere(although I noticed some blind spots). You better get to the bottom of this. Somebody opened the gates for them.

I passed a storage place out of state recently and they advertised that it was EASY ACCESS. That is, no fences, gates or anything like that.

I guess if you're not going to be liable, why pretend to be secure?

so how do they get away with charging that much to store your stuff "securely" if it's not secure?

As the recent victim of a car theft I feel your pain and sorry some scum bag jacked you and others. Let's hope the police catch 'em.
