Which iMac for second computer (Father for Graphic Design)
#1
He was just going to order the base 21.5" iMac because he already has a 24" at the office and said that he just wants it for a secondary computer. How is the resolution / quality on the 21.5" screen?

Superb. As good as the 27", IRRC.

Just got a 21.5 iMac 2(?) months ago. Screen resolution is gorgeous. Be wary of the gloss/glass screen. Put a standing mirror on the desk where you father is going to put the iMac and see if there is any glare from windows, overhead lights, lamps, etc.

If he's like me, he's not going to like moving furniture around an already established office area to acommodate the iMac because of glare.

The built-in speakers are great too!

His 24" iMac is already glossy and he actually likes it. The second station for his home office would be in his basement so no big deal.

Good to know that Apple upgraded the crappy 20" monitor they were putting in the previous generation iMac.

Thanks.

Hook him up with some hi-res Hubble images for wallpapers.

Apple actually includes this as a selling point for the new iMacs:

IPS technology.
The iMac display is designed to look great from almost any angle. A technology called in-plane switching (IPS) makes this possible. Whether you’re sitting in front of the display or standing off to the side, you’ll get a perfect picture with superb color consistency and no loss of detail.

I would likely try one of these anti glare screen sheets.
