A lot of the issues that have popped up lately have been the kind of thing that we're likely to see every year or so from any manufacturer.

I think that the reason we're seeing a lot more recalls and unofficial recalls for relatively minor stuff is that Toyota is looking at potential problems across their whole line and immediately taking care of every issue that they can find rather than spacing them out like usual (and like other car-makers do).

It makes sense that they'd try to get all of these issues taken care of ASAP so that the scope of each issue gets lost in the noise and so that their next model year is as spotless as possible.

I expect that next year there will be a few less recalls than average because of the attention they're paying to them now.
