I think this--vilifying homosexuality while practicing homosexual behavior--is prevalent enough that we can name it. I propose "Bauman Syndrome," for Robert E. "Bugger Bob" Bauman (R-Md.) who was elected to Congress in 1973 on a law-and-order platform and was often on his feet in the House condemning modern vice and misbehavior, and particularly homosexuality. This continued till 1980, with Bauman getting more and more strident. But he was caught during a prostitution sting in 1980 just before the congressional election, trying to solicit sex from a teenaged male prostitute, and he lost the election. He blamed it on alcohol, of course, and later wrote a memoir.
