Did the Java Update for 10.6 hose your browsers?
#1
After installing yesterday's Java update, both Seamonkey and Safari freeze up after a few seconds and require a force quit.

Here is one site: http://macrumors.com/iphone

One Seamonkey, the freeze is instant. Safari takes about 15 seconds longer, but has done it every time.

Both the OS and browsers are at their latest versions.

As of yesterday, the site above and the several others I visited worked fine.

Any suggestions? Maybe manually download the Java update and reinstall?

Fixed it. Download the Java installer from Apple. Fixed permissions. Installed and restarted and both Safari and Seamonkey load the offending sites fine now.

Are you on Leopard or Snow Leopard? Safari is unusable for me in SL. Takes forever to launch and brings my MacBook Pro to it's knees so I have to force quit it. Firefox and Chrome work fine. I've cleared out plug-ins and done maintenance until I'm blue in the face and nothing fixes it.
