I got three similar emails last night.
The first one almost looked reasonable, except for the lack of anything identifying the US government on it and a reply to that went to an edu URL.
Of course when one checks the long headers one finds it was received from a .ru address.
Then i got this one:

PSA: By the way, the IRS doesn't initiate contact through email. I think they prefer the knock on the door.
If you get anything seeming to be from them send it to phishing@irs.gov.

I sent the email to them and said that in the case they actually had a bodacious brenda employed there, I'd appreciate a personal contact.

I expect the knock on the door any time now.
