Bringing my dial-up account with me
#1
A silly question: Can I use my dial-up account abroad, specifically Thailand? Tia

Unless your provider (ISP) has a local number in Thailand, you would have to dial your internet connection number long distance to be able to connect to your provider. HTH

I thought there would be some kind of a co-operations between US ISPs and other nations' so there would be some kind of a discount.

I am checking to see if AT$T has a local POP in various nations.

Maybe Thailand's wi fi service is a better option. A lot of hotels worldwide offer it for free. It'd be a shame to be bound to dial-up anywhere on planet earth, especially now that wireless is increasinlgy ubiquitous.

Also, developed countries in southeast Asia, as well as Europe, are often more advanced than we are with cell and wireless services, it's a new economy that leap-frogged over their inferior, overpriced, and overburdened land-line infrastructure. Looking for dial-up in Thailand, though, I could be wrong, it may be standard there. I'm inclined to assume that wireless services there are more common in 2006.
