Looking at my web stats

I am looking at the sites that have me linked - you know the sites that people click on to get to mine. There are a few sites that are definitely spam type of sites with absolutely no sign of my link on their page (thank goodness!). How do they show up in my stats like that?

Is there a tutorial anywhere to understand how the stats for blogger work? I'm not sure that's what you're talking about but some of the links I get are bizarre, esp. results from the search engines.

No online ads at all. I don't visit these sites and don't associate myself with them at all.
