Back to my Mac
#1
I haven't used this feature yet. I assumed it was part of MobileMe (which I do not have). Was there any word about "Back to my Mac" in Lion/iCloud keynote today?

NO.

There was no mention of iDisk or MobileMe Gallery either. I think it was mentioned somewhere besides this forum tyne iWeb is dead or dying.

It seems it will not be needed. Instead of connecting to your far-away computer, all computers will connect to the cloud, and share apps, settings and content.

I figure Gallery will involve Photo Stream somehow.

Will this iCloud allow you to sync any files, regardless of what application created them, among your Macs (and even PCs)?

As for email, contacts, etc., the screen shots on the Apple website look just like MobileMe, which struck me as rather lame.

But from the way Apple's promoting iCloud, it's really aimed at iOS gizmo users, not at folks still in the old-fashioned 'computer' age. Remember those?

I can see where iCloud is cool but it isn't going to do anything for all the people (like myself) who live in the boonies. They are few open networks and cell service is dirt slow. Once I'm away from my house I am essentially off the net.

So putting everything in iCloud won't really do anything for us.

BTM works, just not as good or as easy as Logmein, which is awesome.
