Wow, there really is an app for that...

Great, just what we need a bunch of vigilante drivers, not paying attention to what they should be doing, driving. I especially like the option "tap plate to edit". That seems real safe while driving.

Myself, I'm not liable to be using this app while actually driving. Only to take note of the information, then submit later...

As for "vigilante drivers", we wouldn't need that if people weren't maniacs on the road, now would we? (Big Grin

We should eliminate all cellphones entirely because some people talk on them while driving, without hands free devices, right? Of course not.

That app is a bad idea. However, properly done, with a dash/window mount (legal, of course) and controllled by a BT headset, it could be a winner.

So I'm all for "vigilantes" calling in dangerous or impaired drivers. CA and other states allow the use of handheld cellphones in emergencies. Bona fide emergencies, not "emergencies as determined by an errant driver.

But police and CHP types can't be everywhere, and with budget and personnel cutbacks it's tougher and tougher. With "vigilantes" calling in, the chances that a bad driver can be caught in progress are increased, which is pretty much mandatory for a ticket or criminal prosecution. ("Aggressive" driving can meet the elements of reckless driving, a criminal offense here and in other states.)

Dangerous, reckless, and just plain bad drives need to be jammed as much and as often as possible. Of course, if we made it more difficult to get and maintain a driver's license, we'd be much better for it.

Yeppers, that's what I'd like too, on occasion.
