USB Ethernet arrived today but....

In 10.7 it just showed up and worked. I only have 2 MBAs (late 2010 and mid 2011) and they are both running 10.7.

Any Suggestions... ?

What's at the other end of the Ethernet cable(s)? A router? Another Mac?

Cable Modem which I have tried and checked with both cables.. then I also went thru a WIFI router
to see if that worked..... leading to no joy Sad

Cable Mode to WIFI Router works splendidly for WIFI with both Cables

Wasn't this the exact same problem that you were having with the onboard ethernet port? That it was always saying cable disconnected?

Does your modem require a crossover cable? Some do, even in spite of the ports on the other end being auto detecting and switching. I have run into that before.

Cable modem plugs into WIFI Router/ situation normal/ I have a friend a new switcher who comes over on Sundays for some Mac tutoring I use a cable from 1 of the 4 WIFI router ports to give him Ethernet with no issues.

Maybe there's an OS issue.

Run the Disk Utility, verify the disk and if it doesn't find anything wrong then reinstall the last OS update using the combo updater.

Seems like it might be a software issue if 2 different devices are having the same problem connecting.
