PSA: Check your credit card charges
#21
I don't really feel sorry for the banks getting hit with all these fraudulent charges. They've had a solution for years and haven't implemented it. They should have switched to the chipped cards years ago. Much more difficult and expensive to duplicate. Wouldn't help with online stuff, but it would take a real bite out of fraudulent cards.

Asked for and got Visa to issue a card with chip and pin. Not really much use in the U.S. but a necessity overseas.

My Citibank Visa, which I have had since 1990 or so, has my picture on the front. Not much protection for an internet or phone purchase, but helps in face to face transaction fraud prevention.

I worked with my wife back in the 90's. She got a call one day from the CC company asking about big charges from a pron site, luckily the CC company saw that unusual activity, I would have hated to finance someone ELSES pron addiction.

I actually have gotten calls from CC companies before asking if a charge was legitimate, but never from the credit union.

I generally get calls from my bank twice a year about unusual levels of activity that is nevertheless legitimate. Because I buy certain liquidation merchandise at "end-of-season" sales, my card activity has two major peaks in Spring and Fall.

When they call, I confirm the transactions, and thank them for their kind attention.

Even better that there is so much out there for free!! Google PORN and click on the videos option at the top of the page (instead of 'images' or 'web') and all you need is right there!

Actually, not so much, since clerks no longer handle the card but instead watch as you swipe it. My husband's debit card has a photo and yet someone was able to use it all over town when they stole it. Fortunately it's a VISA debit card and all his money was replaced within 24 hours. But it shows that the photo is pretty much worthless these days.
