Has anyone ever been able to change an eBay listing from Auction to BIN/Best Offer once it's running?

No bids yet. I wanted to change its listing to BIN/Best Offer, no joy.
Is this possible, without ending the current listing?

Don't think you can do that. Must end and relist.

I thought auctions could be modified if no bids had been placed.

I just tried on one of my auctions with no bids and feeBay would not let me change it. I think the only way is to end and relist.

I think you Used to be able to do this. It seems like every time I try to do something on eBay these days, they've changed something around to thwart the attempt...

Well that's sorta like you used to be able to just choose Sell Similar and list about anything you wanted, just change
the category, description and price. Well now if do that you change the category and description but the price has to
the same or lower. Now you to save an auction as a Template and use that, just adds more steps.

And I think you can't do it because they have different pricing based upon which type of sale it will be - auction style, buy it now, or best offer. They all have different rates and different rules.

I can't get over the amount of doo-dads you can add to a listing now, all while putting more money into eBay's pocket.

That doesn't even do it for me; if offering something internationally and you list another item using the so-called template, it doesn't even save your list of exempted countries, which is a pita to check off every time. I really don't want to have to ship to Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc-stan.
Aside from straight relist, I can't think of one thing eBay does to make the listing process easy.

There's no (good) reason why you shouldn't be able to change the listing type w/diff pricing, just like when revising a y are listing to add subtitle for instance, it shows you what your new listing fee will be. The final value fee rates they keep well-obscured anyway. It's just that they are a badly run company w/ignorant obstinate people making the rules, who seem to never learn any better.
