Just because the cable fit on the end of your new HD doesn't mean there is anything on the other end inside the hard drive actually doing anything.

OWC needs to update their page that states that you can replace a hard drive in a 2009 iMac simply by going with the same manufacturer. It should have been changed when this topic was hot (whenever it was the 2011 iMacs came out) but it wasn't.

Supposedly the 2009 iMac can work without the Apple ROM as long as the replacement drive is close to the model of the original (e.g. same series, different capacity.) |
