Nikon J1 interchangeable lens compact $349 shipped w/ 10-30mm lens

Not sure if anyone is interested but this is the first time this has shown up on the refurb section.

I don't see myself getting one but the price isn't too shabby. Nikon has this kit for around $500 new, which is a rebate price down from $650. A new camera discounted this heavily so soon after release must means slow sales IMHO.

My buying advice: You might be better off with a fairly compact Nikon D3100 or D3200 that have much wider lens selection. The J1 saves you some bulk but the lens selection is sparse since the J1 system is so new and there are no 3rd party lens makers for it yet.

That's interesting. It has a 1/16,000 of a second shutter speed! Great for sport photographers if they had super long lenses for this camera.

However, the flash sync speed blows monkey chunks...

too bad Nikon didn't go with a M4/3 format. that way, those of us users would have more selection of lenses.

You wouldn't be able to use that old Nikkor glass you're looking for an excuse to use. Wink
