Friggin' ebay...

... I'm trying to list an iPhone 3Gs on there, and it keeps giving me this message:

"You can not submit your listing due to the following problems

It looks like you're listing a cell phone or smart phone accessory. Accessories for cell phones, including bundles that only include accessories, should be listed in the Cell Phones & PDAs > Cell Phone & PDA Accessories categories.

If you're listing a cell phone that's bundled with accessories, please add them as "bundled items" in item specifics, or add the word “bundle” to your title. Don't add any accessories to the title or item specifics if those items are typically included with a cell phone. For example, since cell phones usually come with a charger, don't add "charger" to your title, unless you have bundled an additional item. To complete your listing, please edit your item specifics, category, or title."

It's under the right category, I don't have any bundled items listed, and I tried removing anything that might be offending the ebay system, but nothing worked. Any ideas? TiA

Maybe it is the lower case 's' that is making them think it is more than one of something. That is the only possible thing I can think of. Try making the listing exactly like another one that is listed. Also, you need to post exactly what you are calling the auction, so the more knowledgable eBay people here can give you better advice.

grab a title from another ebay sale... if it worked for them, it should work for you. HOWEVER, ebay tinkerers often put up the wrong error message. I've hit a roadblock like that once and just went to a different server. (I think I logged out and logged back in or something like that) and all was well.

There are WAY too many cheapo accessory sellers that try to get better placement by listing in the Phone category instead of the accessories category. If not for this effort, it would be impossible to find one by search.

Ahhh, never mind, figured it out... the problem was apparently that I had listed this phone before, and ebay has apparently in the meantime changed their rules about how you can list things with phones. So I solved the problem by basically making a wholly new listing for the phone, rather than re-listing the old auction... typical ebay snafu.

I need to re-list my iPhone 3G tonight maybe. It's been a while since I've sold on eBay and I made the mistake of doing a Buy It Now and forgot my disclaimers.

I guess in Cell Phone and PDA listings - the Buy It Now doesn't disappear until the regular auction bids reach 50% of the Buy It Now price (discourages regular bidders).

I also forgot to put No International Bidders (or contact me first) and No Bidders with feedback less than 10. My main bidder was a guy with Zero feedback who also had bid and was bidding on a number of iPhones in the last few weeks. He had won 2 or 3 but never paid on any of them and was high bidder on mines and a few others until my Buy It Now bidder jumped in.

He (or she) was a Zero feedback bidder from the Ukraine who also bid and won 5 other iPhones

How can eBay let them get away with that?

We bought four iPhone 4's at one time. It happens. That bidder may be reselling locally the phones he is buying.

Everyone on ebay has a right to bid on auctions. You can put restrictions in the text of your listing, but that doesn't block them from bidding.

True blocking can only happen when you originally set up the sale:


Once the bidder bids, you can cancel the bid and put them on you blocked bidder list, but that's about as much control over it as you can have.

All my sales are set up as buy it now only with immediate payment. If they don't pay for it right then, they don't get it.
