F/U to earlier post about JVC component stereo

I got fuses (2A 250V) at Radio Shack but every one blows when I flip the power on. OK, so my question is: Do I need slow-blows? When I asked at RS yesterday I was told it made no difference but the ones I bought pop as soon as the power is turned on. They look different too.

Or, maybe the fuse is blowing because something worse is wrong...

Could always bridge it with a wire and see how long it takes to burn down the house.

You might want a slo blo if there's a large in-rush
most likely would have had a white ceramic fuse marked with a T or TT on the fuse though

if a power surge caused this you likely have a protection diode that shorted itself out to purposely blow the fuse to disassociate the input. They are one time devices and would need to be replaced along with the fuse. or lift one leg from the circuit, you'll need to do this to test it for a short anyway.



For a lot of experimenting you might want to find a 2 amp circuit breaker. :-)

Well, the original fuse is different... It's clear but the wire inside is coiled around a core and has an E stamped on it.
Stop the presses! I just took a look at it with a magnifier and stamped on the end is an inverted triangle with a T in the triangle!
Back to Radio Shack...

I was going to suggest a slow blow fuse also.
They are needed for the power requirements of the component.
