Where did he say anything about needing to read them from any sort of distance?

I've heard that certain pharmaceutical bulk packs have a gps tracking device to help track the package from manufacturer to distributer to pharmacy. The tracker would not be dispensed to a consumer, but could track the container if it were stolen/taken from the pharmacy.

Some banks are now using gps devices in money packs or bags that are used if robbed. There's been a couple of news stories covering this in the last few weeks.

Exactly. I know many places that use them for such things - I do.

Depending on the type of tag technology that you use, you can get distances up to 30ft from a reader - have readers (like wireless access points) distributed throughout a venue, then you have a great tool to monitor resource numbers and locations.

Many people use RFIDs everyday and don't even realize it.

Unless you're buying case quantity, the pharmacists usually repackages your meds into a prescription bottle.

S'OK.

My Blood pressure meds not repackaged and because of the 3 month price deal on drugs others have been in original bottles. However, I will say my cosine for my back is not in the original bottle.

Many people use RFIDs everyday and don't even realize it. I have been aware of that for years. Is nothing sacred?
