As I recently heard it put, humans are a commodity in India, and not a very valuable one at that.

How many remember Bhopal? Within the lifetime of most folks on this forum.

"...considered the world's worst industrial disaster"
"The toxic substance made its way in and around the shanty towns located near the plant."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal_disaster
I had never heard of that. "In June 2010, seven ex-employees, including the former UCIL chairman, were convicted in Bhopal of causing death by negligence and sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of about $2,000 each, the maximum punishment allowed by Indian law."
How old are you, Franx? Surprised you've never heard of, but maybe I shouldn't be - it was a long time ago that it happened.

This is the kind of story that irritates me. What am I suppose to do with this information? Am I suppose to feel sad? I don't need more sadness in my life. I have enough of my own. It's like the baby in the pipe story from China. Why do I need to know this is my life? Today I'm watching the local news and they are reporting about the water problems in Prince George County near DC. I live in Wisconsin. We are inundated with news from literally around the world. It is just too much. Yes, it's a terrible those children in India died but don't expect me to feel sad.
