How to Lock the Desktop icons to keep in order
#1
I don't want Snap to gride but I am always clicking on the desktop when I mean to click on the files I have opened to change VIEW criteria. I end up with my desktop rearranged and angry.

Somewhere I figured out the combination to return the desktop to its desired positions but I can't find my notes...it was something simple.

Because we Mac users prefer to say control-click rather than the nonsensical "right click."

Back in the OS 9 days there was a utility that would 'remember' your desktop icons' locations. Worked nicely.

Most Mac users aren't control clicking. They either right click on their two button mouse or two finger click in their trackpad.
