Second keyboard not working now

So I've gone through two keyboards that have mysteriously stopped working. I've repaired my disk and permissions changed USB ports and the keyboards still act weird displaying characters along with letters or not displaying any characters when keys are pressed. I'm at a loss here. Num lock is not on as far as I know. Maybe zapping the PRAM but I can't get either keyboard to work to do so......

ok dug out a third keyboard - an old MacAlly iKey - and zapped the PRAM. So far this one is working.
