Although I probably only had a couple of cables replaced and the phone one time
Should I spend the extra $200 for wife and mine 5s?

Well, I was going to suggest getting a Squaretrade warranty instead, because you can get 3 years of coverage for $124 (with a coupon), but it looks like they've raised their deductible for accidental damage to $99.

Due to the way iPhones are carried, transported, held in hand, etc.
they are much more susceptible to being dropped, bumped, what have you. It's the only engender warrantee I would consider buying, uses you plan to upgrade the minute you are eligible, then you won't have it long enough to use the warrantee. Dave

Yes. Do it, it's worth the cost. Don't forget a quality case. No point in getting a cheap polycarbonate case that will only provide scratch protection. Consider OWC case.

Here's what's convinced me to get the Apple Care + extended warranty. If my iPhone - which I use all the time for business - breaks once, it's basically paid for just from the advanced replacement and shipping charges I saved alone.
The rest means you get service with Apple, either online or via the Apple Store. I've never used the '+' part, but I will later this year with a cracked glass on my iPad (I dropped it). The crack is not across the visible screen, but I'll be sure to take it in for the $50 repair to give me a fully functional iPad. My iP4s had to be replaced twice due to hardware issues, the first one the advanced replacement paid for more of the Apple Care, the second one was after the 1 year warranty expired. For me, the question is whether you go with American Express card as your extended warranty. That gives you 2 years.

Waste of money unless you are a klutz.

Sppedy,
I definitely don't share that opinion. I just had a 4S replaced vis Applecare due to hardware issues. This is despite it being kept in an uber heavy-duty case since the day i purchased it. the phone looked brand-new even though it was well over a year old. Glad I had Applecare because i wasn't elogible for an upgrade, didn't have the extra cash for a new phone and didn't want an iphone 5. Robert
