I remember having the same feelings after seeing a movie in the 80s with Kevin Bacon as a daytrader-turned-bike messenger ("Quicksilver"?).

Lucky I didn't kill myself the next day. I was ready to play "Toro, toro, taxi" with some urban traffic.

Actually JGL did more of it than you'd expect.

I was hoping that was the case.

It many scenes it looked like he was doing the riding, but I wasn't sure and didn't want to get fooled. I kept thinking "Damn! That looks like him but maybe it's just a look-a-like stunt man".

There was one scene that I assume had to be him-- when he told the cop "Hold my log" and then backed the bike up and turned around. And it cracked me up. Obviously doable on a fixie, I've just never seen that move.

There was an outtake at the end showing his cut arm and the back window of cab, smashed.

I'll watch the movie again in a couple of days, just because the riding was so fun. But the potential impacts he imagined when deciding on alternate paths looked pretty brutal and took me by surprise.


What was the bit with putting his hand on the fenders of cars/cabs? Was he just letting the driver know he was there? That looked to be a real "thing".

No, it didn't look like that at all. His palm was flat on the front fender. That would be a pretty tough feat to pull off.

His girlfriend was hitching a ride by *grabbing* part of a truck.

As to hitching/cheating, don't know, don't care.
