another Paypal question for which I can't find a clear answer
#1
I want to pay someone who will be hosting a event for a limited number of people. He is not a "company" per se, but an individual. He has given me his Paypal info. I want to pay using a credit card I use for business – not the card I normally use for Paypal purchases. I'm pretty sure I can do that easily enough, but does anyone know if the recipient will have to pay a higher fee if I pay with a credit card rather than direct transfer of funds? Also, I'm guessing there's no way for him to avoid a fee unless I send payment as a "gift", in which case I probably couldn't claim the expense on next year's taxes. He may not even care about the fee, but I'm just curious.

You'll have to add the card you want to use to your PayPal account.

The recipient will pay the fee.

there's always a fee if you use a credit card whether it's a gift or not. it is highly unlikely you will be audited so i'd go ahead and claim the expense with the IRS. if you're audited you're gonna have a lot of 'splaining to do about your life so you might as well throw that in.

Somebody pays the fee with a credit card, not Paypal. You can transfer money free from a bank account or outstanding Paypal balance.

If you send one type of payment (gift?) you get the option to pay the fee your self.

If they care you can send it as a gift and you pay the fee, or just pay extra and 'include' the fee in the payment.
