Under the Help menu, you should see a "restart with add-ons disabled" option.
Try running with add-ons disabled for awhile and see whether you still have freezes.

Thanks-- don't want to confound things by changing too much at once.
Let me go for a while not using the Turbomouse and see what that does... next time I freeze I'll try it.
But I don't see how a buggy Firefox add-on could possibly be allowed to take the whole system down. And not leave any trace in the console log.

I've since bought a recent/supported Kensington trackball. Another crash last night-- this time cursor still moving despite everything else completely froze.
I had disabled but hadn't uninstalled USB Overdrive-- now I've uninstalled it.
I thought upgrading Flash might have helped since the last freeze... when I froze last night I had one browser window composing a message here open, than went to try to get some images I think...

First system freeze since May 12 I think. Updated to 10.9.3 in last 24 hours.
A bunch of windows open in Firefox... not sure what the last straw was but the cursor was still moving at first and then it wasn't.
Somehow all my windows came back intact after reboot including a text edit window that hadn't been saved. Some not quite where I left 'em though.
