TigerDirect order limbo
#1
Ordered two parts from TigerDirect, Crucial mSATA and an Intel 802.11n/Bluetooth mini PCIe. Former shipped and the latter didn't. Now the Intel WiFi/Bluetooth card is showing out of stock. While it would be helpful, the Intel card is far from crucial to upgrading my NUC (already have a dual band Broadcom WiFi card, sans Bluetooth, installed). My only concern is the potential complications if I cancel part of the order.

The order had two discounts, an AMEX $15 credit off $50 and a TigerDirect $15 off $100 coupon. While the former has gone through since the $50+ part already shipped, the latter discount was partially applied to the mSATA card ($11 and change) and partially applied to the WiFi card (about $4). I don't mind missing the almost $4 discount if I cancel the WiFi card order, but TigerDirect wouldn't charge me the extra $11 for not meeting the $100 threshold, would they???

Does this make sense?

P.s. To clarify, Tiger has not charged me for the WiFi card. No need for a refund on my end, I'm purely concerned how Tiger will handle the current $11 credit for part one of the order that actually shipped. Thanks!

I think it's likely that their system isn't smart/sophisticated enough to deny you the discount retroactively. This is the kind of quirky situation that gets written off when the accountants balance the books. If it were Newegg, i'd say you're fine because a simple customer service contact would probably resolve the issue if they mucked it up. Since it's Tiger Direct, if something goes sour you're probably SOL - their CS sux.

Nice (?) to know that TigerDirect hasn't changed in 20 years... They're still incompetent.

Hope you can get it resolved to your benefit.

I would think so, but who knows about Tiger? Up until a couple days ago, I think the part listed itself as in stock and a limit of something like 13(!!!) per order. Now out of stock. And 10+ business days later after my initial order, the part hasn't shipped. I paid with my AMEX, so I have some protection.

I generally avoid Tiger because of similar complaints, but while this is a bit annoying, it isn't the end of the world. At least Tiger didn't bill me for the unshipped part.

"Status: To Drop Shipper" is what I see. When the product was in stock, it listed 3-5 days to process order. It's been almost two weeks, so even absent weekends, that's at least 8 "business" days. How long should I wait? I'm thinking until Friday. Not meaning to be impatient, but 3-5 days isn't 8+ business days and with the product now listing out of stock, makes me wonder if it was oversold.

Again, I understand there was a delay to process the order and a delay to actually have the order delivered since I picked the free shipping. I realize the product could very well have been in transit still at this date, but the part hasn't even shipped. Oh well.

Have they dropped the CompUSA brand that they bought from the ashes of that chain?

TD and Buy.com were (and I guess still are) second tier options. I don't know if Rakuten has made the latter any better. There was always some uneasieness surrounding ordering from them, as well as their lack of urgency in fulfilling orders.

Cyberian Outpost/Outpost.com kinda lives on a very outdated Frys.com site.

Apparently dropped in 2012, along with CircuitCity, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CompUSA

As far as buy.com, never had a problem with them, but think I only used them when they sold through Amazon. Not fulfilled by Amazon, just another store on the market. Never had a problem, but the main processing of the order still ran through your Amazon account. So there was a level of obfuscation from the direct Buy.com experience.
