A nice and inexpensive monocular
#1
Celestron is one of those companies that unlike Apple, tries to cover every segment of the market. This means that some of their stuff is truly excellent, while some of it is utter garbage. So, they make an awful 25x70 pair of binoculars that lists for $100, and they make a nice 20x70 pair that lists for $879.

I recently tried out one of their Outland X 6x30 monoculars, and I was pleasantly surprised. It has a BaK-4 prism, and multi-coated, although not fully multi-coated optics. The field of view is 10.5 degrees.

This thing is truly bang for the buck and worth every bit of $40.

PS: Don't waste your money on the 25x30 spyglass, or the 10x15 roof prism monocular.

This is good for someone who is really size and weight conscious. I know that from my backpacking days as a kid that every ounce counts.
