4Ghz iMac, A9 video card, 5K resolution. Anyone rethinking the Mac Pro?

These are some serious specs but I need to face it, I will probably blow it on a lens.

It will be interesting to see how it stacks up to the Mac Pro on real-world benchmarks. Apple surely wouldn't put out an iMac at $2499 that would trounce a $2999 Mac Pro, though I'd imagine there will be tasks for which it does equal or best it.

If that iMac were out 2 months ago I would have had a real hard time deciding.

yeah, but the other iMacs DID NOT get an upgrade. Same specs and prices as the late 2013 models.

I decided 27" with the previous resolution was too small. Making it even more "retina" is a waste to me now that I need bifocals. Have to wait for tests to see if the GPU upgrade can keep up with the resolution. Glad to see they finally got around to updating it to Thunderbolt 1.2. I would prefer a 4 GHz quad core mini with the M295X GPU, two Thunderbolt 1.2 and a dedicated DisplayPort for a monitor.

Seems pretty compelling. Like to see some benchmarks comparing the two.

Yes, it'll be neat to see side by side comparison. A week or so ago I found myself reading Anandtech's Mac Pro review and I was struck by how it did not blow away other Macs in many tests. My take away was that the rightful market for that thing is really really tiny, smaller than I had previously though.
