iTunes 12 is a deal- breaker for me, unless they un-fsck it.

A8 processor in the Touch, wow!

That's kind of crazy given the lag on updating the specs of the touch in the last four years. Good size for those who prefer the 4" form factor. If only there was a mobile data option, people could approximate the iPhone 6 mini. $410 (assuming normal Apple LTE modem markup) for a 128GB almost phone is a pretty decent deal compared to iPhone pricing.

What about using it with a mobile hotspot for Google Voice or Facebook Messenger, which allows you to make phone calls?

Sure. That would work.

And has been for months, it was removed from the lineup quite a while ago.

Love that idea, or an iPad nano (iPhone Plus-sized). I'd take that over an iPhone and get a flip phone...
or maybe a simple iPod watch, just plays music and podcasts with bluetooth...who knows...

They leapfrogged the iPhone 5s by adding an A8 chip, but couldn't they at least have given Touch users TouchID? All other specs make it look like it's a nice upgrade to the previous iPod Touch. Lately, every time I use my Touch, I keep my thumb on the home button like a fool expecting it to unlock.

I still may have to get this new model if, for nothing else, the 128GB storage. My current 64GB is too full.

LOL, I do the same on my iPads!

If for no other reason, I'll get an Air 2 (or 3?) when the new lineup is announced.

Oh yes, 128G too.
