It seems that the age of cool Mac software has passed.

The galling thing is that Jeff Robbin still works for Apple, and as VP of Consumer Applications, has overseen the trainwreck that SoundJam iTunes has become.

I'm still of the mind that iTunes tries to do too much, which is part of its problem.

But more recently one could also argue that there's no guarantee that if its functions were split up into separate apps, they would necessarily be any better.

Given Apple's recent track record, they could easily screw those up as well.

I was just having this same issue.
I thought I was the only one.

I think I would like to go back to about iTunes 10 or so, maybe 8 or 9.
I liked the version that had the nice sidebar with colored icons (When they changed those icons to grayscale is when iTunes started its long slide downhill).

With that you could drag your music onto your connected device and copy songs over easily.

This new version gets stuck doing this:

Don't get me started on iPhone Music or whatever it's called.
It's mostly geared now towards the young'uns who think "streaming" is the beesknees. Us oldtimers who bought CDS (and got stuff off of Napster, etc) have basically been put out to pasture.
