ecobee and Apple HomeKit
#1
I have an ecobee3 and I plan to install it next weekend. I understand it works with an iOS App.

An Apple TV may be on my purchase list this Thanksgiving or Christmas. I understand that AppleTV is the base of so called HomeKit. What would I gain if I had an Apple TV to act as HomeKit? what could that setup do, that I would not do with my iPhone?

Thanks

I have an Ecobee 3. Works well, and support is great. The thing has software and tech people that can explain how it does some of its special features.

I got excited about home kit, and wanted to do more than the ecobee, but it just became easier for me to turn the lights off in the back room, with that 3 button remote, and receivers.

And the Ecobee3 app works well on the iPhone.

You can see everything and do everything away from home....

I use my Ecobee with the the native iOS app, works great. I also have it integrated with a Wink hub (also great in there, and provides some better visuals and info, in my opinion), but much easier with the native app.

Also, keep in mind you can also log into your account with a browser. I forget about that sometimes, but it is a very nice interface.

I've used it with HomeKit, and works fine, but just not that interested in HomeKit right now.

Always nice to have options.
