Mov? MP4? WMV? Which best for sites?

[quote dotman]quicktime pro can output flv files.
I don't think it can do this with a vanilla install of QT Pro. It requires an additional codec that is installed when you install Macromedia Studio or similar.

I've never been able to create .flv files using QT Pro with the screen recording setting of the codec. For me it always aborts with an error.

can't confirm that, but you may be right. The $15 shareware ffmpegX - 0.0.9x lists flv files as an encode option. Haven't tried it, but might be nice for the toolkit.

Apparently this is free, but it's windows only. No experience with it, but i might take it for a spin.

anyhoo, we're going all flash. good codecs, huge user penetration (k that sounded dirty), and no more outputting multiple versions. just my choice. There are some nice players out there as well the have dynamic listers, so you can have a clickable list of vids and it will load into a single player. wimpy player is nice. I also hear slideshowpro now supports flv's, but I will have to check that.

you know it just occured to me, that by installing the flashpro8 demo, which when macromedia owned it, was fully functional and I assume that's still true, would install the codec needed to either use the batch encoder or enable flv from quicktime pro. Just a thought.
